Special Olympics begins in Himachal Pradesh
November 3rd, 2009 - 11:44 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Shimla, Nov 3 (IANS) The state-level Special Olympics started in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur town Tuesday, an organiser of the event said.
“More than 200 special children from all over the state are participating in various events in the three-day Special Olympics that started this (Tuesday) morning,” president of the Himachal Special Olympics Committee Mallika Nadda told IANS.
She said the state government has agreed in principle to allocate three percent of the annual sports budget for organising and promoting games for the children.
“We are urging the state government to reserve three percent posts for those special children who won medals in various national and international events,” she said.
Bilaspur is about 150 km from here.
