Southee sets sights on being among top 10 World Cup wicket takers
March 1st, 2011 - 3:05 pm ICT by ANIAhmedabad, Mar. 1 (ANI): New Zealand pace bowler Tim Southee has set high personal goals at the World Cup and wants to be among the top 10 wicket-takers in the event.
The 22-year-old pacer is one of the few New Zealand players to make an impression in India and he will try to add to his tally of four wickets in two games when the Black Caps play Zimbabwe in a potential banana skin game in Ahmedabad on Friday, reports stuff.co.nz.Southee took three wickets against Kenya and added another when wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum managed a sharp leg-side stumping against Australia to dismiss Ricky Ponting.
Southee said New Zealand were preparing for a tough match against Zimbabwe.
Southee said New Zealand were trying to move on from their seven-wicket loss to Australia last Friday.
“We have to dump it and move on because you don’t have time to dwell on it,” he said.On selection, Southee played with a straight bat, saying: “It’s great to have that competition among the team. It is a healthy thing to have guys pushing for spots and there are 15 guys - any of them could play.” (ANI)
