South Carolina Gamecocks Win CWS At Rosenblatt Stadium

uclaOmaha, June 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Tuesday night the audience of the Rosenblatt stadium witnessed a grand final baseball game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the UCLA team that closed the College World Series for this year. After a fabulous 11-innings game, the South Carolina was finally able to hold the trophy for the first time. The South Carolina was able to beat the UCLA 2-1. The game was not only the final of the CWS 2010 but also the final one to be held at the Rosenblatt stadium making the game all the more memorable.

The game between the UCLA and the South Carolina turned out to be an interesting one as both the teams put up a strong defense. South Carolina team was trailing behind at the beginning of the game but managed a tie at the eighth innings. It is with the Whit Merrifield’s RBI single at the end of the 11 innings that South Carolina won the game.

The Journey of the South Carolina Gamecocks to the College World Series was not an easy. In all three of its NCAA regional games the team had trailed at the middle and it had to add to its credit two wins in the super regionals to make it to the CWS. However once into the College World Series the coach of the team Ray Tanner said that he wanted his team to remain in the series till the end as they wanted to be a part of the history of the famous Rosenblatt stadium that has hosted the CWS since 1950. After the win the pitcher of the South Carolina team Matt Price said that “To be the last team to win it here, that’s amazing”.
