Cape Town, Mar 28(ANI): South Africa’s Sports Ministry and Cricket South Africa (CSA) will hold a review into their team’s failure following their latest World Cup debacle.

The Proteas were knocked out of the tournament after they collapsed from a winning position to hand New Zealand a dramatic 49-run victory in Friday’s quarterfinal at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.

Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula said that his ministry would meet CSA officials in the first week of April.

“Let us draw lessons to be learned from this painful experience. We believe we owe it to the nation to provide a well-researched review of the results of our participation in the championship (World Cup),” Stuff.co.nz quoted Mbalula, as saying.

Meanwhile, team manager Mohammed Moosajee said that CSA would also hold its own “debrief and review”.

South Africa has lost every one of the five knockout games it has played at the World Cup, dating back to its debut in 1992. (ANI)
