South Africa win toss, bat in first Test against India

Chennai, March 26 (IANS) South Africa won the toss and elected to bat against India in the first Test at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here Wednesday. The teams:

India: Anil Kumble (captain), Virender Sehwag, Wasim Jaffer, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, V.V.S. Laxman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicket-keeper), Harbhajan Singh, Rudra Pratap Singh and Sreesanth

South Africa: Graeme Smith (captain), Neil McKenzie, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, Ashwell Prince, A.B. de Villiers, Mark Boucher (wicket-keeper), Morne Morkel, Paul Harris, Dale Steyn and Makhaya Ntini

Umpires: Asad Rauf (Pakistan) and Tony Hill (New Zealand)
