According to Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal, “the Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat metro stations will remain closed at certain specific timings” as per the directions of Delhi police.
He also said that the commuters will not be affected due to the restrictions as they can use the nearby Udyog Bhawan metro station on the HUDA City Centre-Jehangirpuri corridor.
The Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat Metro stations will remain closed between 6 a.m and 10 a.m. on Oct 9 when the 20km walk event of the Commonwealth Games will be held.
Gate numbers 1,2,7 and 8 of Rajiv Chowk Metro Station will, however, remain open for the public. The restrictions will continue for Rajiv Chowk on Oct 14, the Games closing ceremony, as well.
Meanwhile, commuters on the HUDA City Centre-Jehangirpuri and Central Secretariat-Sarita Vihar sections will have no restrictions and these two lines will be plying as usual.
On Oct 10 — when the cycling road race is to be staged, trains will not stop at the Patel Chowk Metro station from 6 a.m to 6 p.m.
