Somdev, Sania climb in rankings

New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) India’s Somdev Devvarman and Sania Mirza moved up in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles rankings released Monday.
Somdev gained two places to 63rd place while Sania gained one place to 64th. Both failed to make the main draw of the Western and Southern tournament at Cincinnati, beginning Monday.
In the men’s doubles, Rohan Bopanna gained two places to reach a career-best ranking of nine.
However, veteran Mahesh Bhupathi dropped a place to sixth position while his partner Leander Paes is static at the eighth place.
In the women’s doubles, Sania is unchanged at 11th position.
