Somdev crashes out of Nice Open first round

Nice, May 16 (IANS) India’s Somdev Devvarman crashed out of the men’s singles first round of the Nice Open tennis.
Somdev, ranked 66, went down fighting to World No. 53 Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 3-6, 6-7(7) here Sunday.
Somdev had beaten Mannarino in their last meeting at Indian Wells Masters earlier this year.
The Indian, however, is alive in the doubles where he is partnering American Ryan Sweeting. The two play Czech Frantisek Cermak and Filip Polasek of Slovakia in the first round.
