London, Sep.23 (ANI): Former Arsenal centre-half, Sol Campbell, who had joined Notts County earlier this month has quit the side after playing only a game.
Campbell’s sudden resignation has shocked his team mates and manager Ian McParland as well.
The 34-year old footballer, who had inked a five-year 40,000 pound-a-week deal with Notts County at the start of this month, asked Parland to release him from the deal just after the miserable 2-1 defeat at Morecambe.
Campbell’s departure from the team comes amid the investigations being carried out against the Notts County by the Football League.
The Football League wants the details of the Munto Finance’s recent takeover.
It is believed that the new County owners have given McParland just two games to save his job, The Sun reported. (ANI)
