Sohail blames Pak bowlers for poor record on Australian soil
December 27th, 2009 - 2:09 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Karachi, Dec.27 (ANI): While criticising the bowlers for their poor show during the first day of the Boxing Day against Australia in Melbourne, former Pakistan Test opener Aamir Sohail has said that the bowlers have always let the team down during Australia tour.
“You take out the stats of Pakistan-Australia Tests on Australian soil and you will notice that in almost all the matches that our team has lost there, our bowlers failed to live up to expectations,” The News quoted Sohail, as saying.
Oz batsmen tackled the Pakistani attack with ease and piled up 305-3 on the first day of the first Test match.
“It is almost always been like this.I mean, whenever we go to Australia it’s our batsman who always face the brunt of criticism. But nobody mentions the fact that our bowlers, who are supposed to be our strength, never really deliver,” Sohail added.
He said it is unfair to expect batsmen to win matches, if bowlers allow the opponents pile on score over 500.”If the bowlers will allow Australia to score 500 or more each time we play against them, then it’s not fair to expect that your batsmen will win Tests for you. It doesn’t work that way,” the former left-handed batsman said. (ANI)
