Soderling vows to destroy Murray’s title hopes again
November 19th, 2010 - 5:10 pm ICT by ANILondon, Nov 19 (ANI): Robin Soderling, who takes on Andy Murray in the opening game of the Barclays World Tour finals at the O2 on Sunday, has vowed to destroy British No.1 title hopes again.
The Swedish ace takes on Murray just a week after replacing him as world number four.
Murray and Soderling have clashed four times in the past with the current score level at 2-2, The Sun reports.
Soderling said: “Andy is the favourite in a lot of matches he plays but there are a lot of good players out there and everyone can beat everyone at the top. That is what is nice about our sport, it is unpredictable.”
“The first three matches were in 2005-06 - a long time ago - and I don’t remember much. The last one in Indian Wells was this year in March and it was a very good match for me. Its always nice to beat good players like Andy,” he said.
“I feel good physically and my confidence is high, I have played and won a lot of matches recently. It did not really matter if I played Sunday or Monday. I am ready,” Soderling said.
If Murray can win in the grand season finale, it will set the British ace up brilliantly for the next Grand Slam, the Australian Open.
Soderling said Murray can finally end British tennis’ 74 year wait for a slam success. (ANI)
