Sky Sports ’sexism row’ presenters sign Talksport radio deal
February 9th, 2011 - 5:23 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb 9(ANI): Former Sky Sports presenters Andy Gray and Richard Keys, who were accused of sexist comments against a British female referee during a Premier League match last month, will return to broadcasting after signing a deal to host a new radio show on Talksport.
The pair has been confirmed as the new frontmen of a programme for the commercial station, with their debut set to air on February 14.
The show, the first job for both men since leaving Sky Sports over the sexism row, will be broadcast every weekday from 10am to 1pm.
“This is the start of something new and exciting for Andy and myself. We are delighted to be joining the Talksport family and can’t wait to get going,” Sky Sports quoted Keys, as saying in a statement.
Gray added: “I can’t tell you how excited I am about joining the Talksport team. It’s an ideal opportunity for Richard and me to do what we do best, and that’s talk about sport.”
The duo had made derogatory comments against Premier League referee Sian Massey and West Ham United executive Karren Brady.
Following the controversy, Sky Sports had sacked Gray, their primary football pundit and a former Scottish footballer, from his 1.7 million pounds-a-year job.
Keys resigned from his 500,000 pounds-a-year job after admitting that he too had behaved in a “prehistoric” way towards women. (ANI)
