Skater Rachel Flatt wins the US Figure Skating Championship ladies title

Rachel Flatt Spokane, Jan 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Skater Rachel Flatt has pulled off a victory in the US Figure Skating Championship, which was held on Saturday. She won the title with some difficulty as earlier she was in the third place, behind Mirai Nagasu and the Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen. She secured the title with 200.11 points, whereas Nagasu was placed in the second position with 188.78 points.

She was naturally ecstatic about her win, and said that, “It was a great program. I was very excited with how things went. I finally competed like how I’ve been training and I built throughout.” With this great win, the 17-year-old Rachel Flatt and the 16-year-old Nagasu have secured their berths for the Vancouver Olympics next month. Mirai Nagasu wowed the audience with her very sophisticated ‘Carmen’ program, but to her great dismay, she was ticked off for some technical flaws. This came as a rude shock to the skater herself. “I was downgraded on three elements?” she asked.

Right now only the Vancouver Olympics next month, are on every figure skater’s mind. Mirai Nagasu said that she was dreaming about the Olympics, and though the team isn’t led by the likes of Michelle Kwan or Kristi Yamaguchi, yet they are optimistic. As they have big dreams, which will guide them in the Olympics.
