Sindh CM announces Rs0.5mn cash award for each cricketer of Pak WC squad

Shoaib Akhtar Karachi, April 9(ANI): Sindh Chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has announced a cash award of 0.5 million rupees for each member of Pakistan’s World Cup team.

Pakistan, considered underdogs before the start of the 2011 World Cup, made it to the last four stage of the tournament before their campaign ended in a 29-run defeat at the hands of India in the semi final clash at Mohali on March 30.

Shah hosted a reception in honour of the Pakistan cricket team, the World Cup semi-finalists, The News reports.

Skipper Shahid Afridi, coach Waqar Younis, manager Intikhab Alam and ten players of the team attended the reception, while the Akmal Brothers, Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Akhtar and Junaid Khan were not present on the occasion.

Shah presented Ajraks and Sindhi caps to all members of the team, and announced a cash award of 0.5 million rupees for each player during the reception.

Praising the performance of the national team in the recently concluded mega event, the chief minister said that the ICC World Cup 2015 would go only to Pakistan.Afridi thanked the people of Pakistan for providing full support to his team, and said that Pakistan would win the next World Cup by God’s grace if they continued supporting the squad.
