Siddhant sets new Indian record in 110m hurdles
June 18th, 2012 - 8:44 pm ICT by IANSBrussels (Belgium), June 18 (IANS) Siddhant Thingalaya, 21-year-old athlete from Mumbai, set an Indian record in 110m hurdles with a timing of 13.65 seconds at the Belgium Athletics National Championship here.
Siddhant fell short by five-hundredth of a second to meet Olympic qualification Sunday. However, he remains committed to his quest to become the first Indian hurdler to compete in the Olympic Games since 1964.
He made a great start in the final running with confidence and rhythm, but then disaster stuck. He felt sudden pain in the hamstring while approaching the ninth hurdle in the race due to which he almost limped to the finish line and finished in second place behind Adrien Deghelt of Belgium who clocked 13.64s.
