- Lahore, Mar.30 (ANI): Following Pakistan middle order batsman Mohammad Yousuf’s announcement that he is to terminate his contract with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), and eager to join the national squad, another Pakistani ICL player, Abdul Razzaq has expressed his desire to play for Pakistan once again.
He said that the ICL management has released all Pakistani cricketers from their contracts.
Razzaq, who joined the ICL after being dropped from the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup squad, said he is now available for national duty.
“I have informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about my availability. I will provide the No Objection Certificate (NOC) once I get it from the ICL,” The Daily Times quoted Razzaq, as saying.
Chief selector Abdul Qadir has already made it clear that rebel players would definitely be considered for selection once the PCB gives the green signal.
“The selection committee would definitely consider players like Mohammad Yousuf, Imran Farhat, Imran Nazir, Rana Navedul Hasan, Mohammad Sami and Abdul Razzaq for national team selection,” Qadir said.
“We’ve made it pretty clear from the start that while we can’t select players for Pakistan who are contracted to the ICL, if they end their ties with the league they would be immediately reconsidered for the national side,” a PCB spokesperson added.
The PCB had barred all 17 players who joined the ICL from playing in any form of cricket in Pakistan, but later a Sindh High Court verdict allowed them to appear in domestic matches. (ANI)
