Shooting teams announced for Commonwealth championships
January 23rd, 2010 - 9:05 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 23 (IANS) India Saturday announced the teams for different categories for the Commonwealth Shooting Championships from Feb 17-28 at the Karni Singh Shooting Range here.
Shooters from 10 Commonwealth countries will participate in the championships.
To prepare for the event, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) is organising a camp for Indian shooters at the Karni Singh range.
For shotgun shooters, the camp is from Feb 1 and for rifle pistol shooters, it is starting from Feb 8.
NRAI said all arrangements regarding the boarding, lodging as well as the security of the participating nations, have been made.
“Holding events of such magnitude always tests the organising skills of the hosts but NRAI is fully geared up and will ensure this championship is a huge success both in terms of conduct of the championship and the performance of Indian shooters,” said NRAI secretary general Baljeet Singh Sethi.
“Safety and security of the players is fully ensured.”
NRAI said it is looking forward to a better performance from the shooters.
