Vancouver, Feb 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Chinese skaters Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo created a record by achieving the best scores of the season at the figure skating pairs short program at the Winter Olympics at Vancouver on Sunday. The real life couple who won the bronze medals at the past two Olympics, delivered a sizzling performance which enabled them to take the lead in the competition.

The Chinese pair displayed one of the most splendid performances of the event which ensured that they end the competition with the record score of 76.66 points. With the amazing feat, the Chinese couple are ahead of the two-time world champion German pair Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy, who managed to grab the second position. Russian skaters Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov ended up in the third position of the competition. However, it was surely the Chinese skating pair who grabbed immense attention during the event as they managed to keep the audiences completely enthralled with their skillful movements.

While reacting to their remarkable run at the competition, Zhao Hongbo added that they had participated in four Olympics Games, however the much coveted gold medal has remained elusive till now. At the same time, the Chinese skater also emphasized that they are really looking forward to winning a gold medal this time around. If the couple continues with its impressive performance at the upcoming events, then earning the gold medal does not seem a distant dream for them. Zhao Hongbo also implied that the amazing performance that they displayed could be equaled to a perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
