Shaun White 2010 Olympic Medalist: Hot in the Snow

sean white Shaun White is a very hot topic when discussing the 2010 Winter Olympics which are being held in Vancouver. This well-liked snowboarder recently won the Gold medal in the half-pipe competition, completely obliterating the competition.

He won this second gold medal with a successful “Double McTwist 1260″ which is his newest signature move. It is a stunning, difficult, and dangerous trick consisting of two flips and three and a half twists.  He had scored 46.8 out of a possible 50 in his first run, pretty much solidifying his victory.

As part of Shaun’s preparation for the Winter Olympics, he practices on a private half a million dollar half pipe which is not accessible to anyone without a helicopter. It is located somewhere in Colorado, and was paid for buy Red Bull, one of Shaun’s endorsers. He earns around 8 million a year in endorsements.

Shaun, while speaking of his second run, said: “I felt it was such a miracle run … I just felt like I didn’t come all the way to Vancouver not to pull out the big guns. I put down the tricks I’ve worked so hard on. My coach said at the top, ‘Don’t do this unless you’re gonna stomp it.’ ”

He is not alone. Thirteen Americans have taken the Gold in Vancouver already during these 2010 Olympic competitions. Team USA has a lot to be proud of.
