Los Angeles, Nov 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Cleveland Cavaliers center Shaquille O’Neal is calling it quits from his wife Va’Shaundya (Shaunie) O’Neal of almost 7 years. His wife, Va’Shaundya filed for legal separation in Los Angeles with intent to divorce on Monday. Irreconcilable differences have been cited as the reason for the divorce.

“Obviously, this is a difficult time for our family, and we request that the media respect our privacy,” Shaquille O’Neal said in a statement released by the team Tuesday night. “I will continue to focus on being there for our children and I am confident that Shaunie will do the same.”

The to-be-divorced couple lives in Florida, but apparently Shaunie flew to Los Angeles one day before filing the divorce papers, and claimed she’s a resident of California, as it has more generous community property divorce provisions.

This is the second split for the warring couple Shaunie and Shaq, who had also filed for divorce in 2007. The couple, who reportedly have a prenuptial agreement also, eventually reconciled after the first divorce fights, over financial issues.
