Shaq O’Neal Goes to Cleveland Cavaliers

Shaq O NealPopular NBA star Shaquille O’Neal has been traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers after the Phoenix Sun officials have decided to send him along with LeBron James, according to reports. In return, the Cavaliers will be sending Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to Phoenix. Shaquille O’Neal’s season with Phoenix Suns has not been a successful one where besides winning nine fewer games, he didn’t make much of a mark and it was much below his performance graph with teams like Miami Heat, Laker and Magic. But this didn’t affect the value of this 37 year old four time NBA champion.

Shaq’s trade has been quite a relief for the Caveliers as they have been desiring it from February. Since Cav’s center Zydrunas Ilgauskas has not been fruitful, Shaq’s entry into the team as the middle will prove to be a helpful force. 17.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game in the last season was Shaq’s average justifying his dominance in the field. Moreover, since just one year is left for the completion of his deal with the Suns, the chance for the Cavaliers has popped up for signing Shaq for the next season which will carry with itself an amount of 20 million in the contract.

It is assumed that the deal will be finalized on Thursday though Shaq’s agent has not confirmed anything about about it. Shaq, who has been a dominant and most influential name in NBA, started playing basketball from 1989, winning three NBA championships with Los Angeles Laker and one with the Miami Heat till date.

I feel this is a trade that should Have happened Late in the Season When the Cav’s were making their Run. They should still go after a Young “Big Man ” in the Offseason. Ilgalszcias is great outside perimeter But, He doesn’t have it for inside !
