February 7th, 2011 - 8:54 pm ICT by IANSMelbourne, Feb 7 (IANS) Australian all-rounder Shane Watson won his second successive Allan Border Medal after he was declared the Test and one-day player of the year. The Age reported that Watson claimed the Allan Border Medal by 100 votes from Mike Hussey. Mitchell Johnson was a further two votes behind in third place. Watson, however, missed the Twenty20 player of the year, running second to David Hussey.

Watson thanked his family and team mates, but also offered special thanks to Cricket Australia’s medical staff, having faced a constant battle with injury through the early years of his international career.
“To be able to do it for a couple of years now without getting too many injuries is something I never thought was going to happen,” Watson said.
