Los Angeles, Sep 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was one of those anticipated big bouts that fans eagerly wait for months, but on Saturday night the Sergio Mora Vs. Shane Mosley fight turned out to be an apt example of bathos that led the crowd howling with cheers to a commonplace fight that was full of missed punches and loose play. At the end, the winner was none other than judge Lou Moret who awarded 114 to both the players ending the bout in a draw. While judge Kermit Bayless’ scorecard read 115-113 in favor of Sergio Mora, that of David Denkin read 116-112 in favor of Shane Mosley. It was the scores of Lou Moret that would have decided the bout’s winner and the veteran judge preferred a draw.
Although it would be wrong to say that the players did not try their best to make the play interesting, the game was marred with hoards of missed punches and wrong shots. In the first six round of the bout, Sergio Mora kept his pace steady and went for defense play. Shane Mosley was seen leading by 54-24. However, the game took an all together different turn in the next three rounds when Sergio Mora came forward with some good play. Shane Mosley, who seemed a little tired by the seventh round, continued to slag till the ninth round in between which Sergio Mora went for some punches.
However, it was the last three rounds of the bout that turned out to be the most interesting one with some serious inside fighting. After 12th round although Shane Mosley outlanded Sergio Mora by 59-46, it was not enough to defeat his opponent. Shane Mosley opined that Sergio Mora is not a “big puncher” and that is why he had to box. However, he added that the same time that it was hard to get the player as he was “pretty fast”.
