Shane Hmiel Stabilizing After Crash

Shane HmielOct 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) USAC Driver Shane Hmiel who sustained serious injuries on Saturday is in a stable but critical condition according to the latest statements from the authorities. His father, Steve, revealed that his head looks better now but he is under heavy sedation. He also said that Shane Hmiel is unable to feel his legs presently but it is expected that he will not get back the sensation.

The accident occurred when Shane Hmiel lost control of his vehicle during a turn and it went up on two wheels. The car crashed into a wall and the roll cage crumbled completely. As the personnel rushed on the scene it was seen that the car was in a completely smashed condition and though Shane Hmiel was not visible, it was evident that the crash was a serious one. Shane Hmiel was airlifted from the scene of the crash and onlookers revealed that he was unresponsive after the accident. He was rushed to the Indianapolis Methodist Hospital where he was admitted to the ICU for treatment. Insiders revealed that he received serious injuries to his head during the crash.

Shane Hmiel was one of the most talked about racers in the USAC after he joined the racing circuit recently. He was awarded the ‘Most Improved Driver’ Award for his performance last year. Many fans feel that the crash could be a serious setback to his career in the USAC as it was just showing signs of taking off. Shane Hmiel was suspended from NASCAR in 2005 after he failed three drug tests. His entry into the USAC was a much hyped one and he performed well right from the start.
