Shakib turned to Hindi movie after Gayle got out
March 18th, 2011 - 11:27 pm ICT by IANSDhaka, March 18 (IANS) Bangladesh captain Shakib-al Hasan turned to Hindi movies for the greater part of the nerve racking West Indies innings Thursday evening during their World Cup game against England.
Bangladesh would have sailed into the quarterfinals had the West Indies won the game. But the roller coaster game saw the West Indies go down to England by 18 runs in Chennai after losing the last four wickets within three runs in 21 balls.
Sakib told the media Friday that he switched over to a Hindi movie after West Indies opener Chris Gayle got out. Gayle struck a whirlwind 43 of 21 balls and fell in the seventh over.
“I watched the game when Gayle was batting. Then I watched a Hindi movie,” Shakib said, without revealing the name of the film.
Millions of sports lovers in Bangladesh were glued to their television sets to watch the game.
Bangladesh now need to defeat South Africa in their last group match here Saturday to make the cut for the last eight.
