Madrid, Feb 4 (DPA) Sevilla are well placed to reach the final of the Spanish King’s Cup after beating Getafe 2-0, in a one- sided semi-final first leg.
Luis Fabiano headed Sevilla into the lead, and Getafe defender Mario Alvarez made it 2-0 with a late own goal here Wednesday.

“This is a very good result for us,” said Sevilla winger Diego Perotti. “We will have to be careful in the second leg, but I really believe now that we are going to get into the final.”

Getafe made a bold start, and the fans in the Sanchez Pizjuan were annoyed when Sevilla coach surprisingly took off striker Alvaro Negredo for midfielder Koffi Romaric.

But the jeers turned to cheers just before half-time, when Luis Fabiano broke the deadlock by heading in a centre from Adriano.

The goal gave Sevilla the confidence they lacked in the first half, and they dominated until the end. Ten minutes from time came the second goal, when Mario clumsily turned a good cross from Jesus Navas into his own goal.

The second leg will be played in Getafe next Wednesday.

The other semi-final, between Atletico Madrid and Racing Santander, begins Thursday.
