Sevilla president given seven-and-half year jail term
December 19th, 2011 - 9:29 pm ICT by IANSMadrid, Dec 19 (IANS) The President of Spanish Primera Liga club, Sevilla Jose Maria del Nido was sentenced to seven and a half years in jail for corruption here Monday.
Nido was sentenced for his part in the ‘Minutas’ case, which is based around the misappropriation of public finds in and around the town of Marbella on the south coast of Spain.
The case, which was heard over a year between April 2010 and June 2011, saw 16 people, among them the former Mayor de Marbella, Julian Munoz, on trial for stealing millions of Euros of public money in the scandal.
It has not been a good few days for Del Nido, who watched his side defeated 6-2 at home by Real Madrid Saturday night.
