Madrid, Jan 21 (DPA) Sevilla and Getafe are poised to reach the semifinals of the Spanish King’s Cup after winning quarter-final first legs Wednesday at Deportivo Coruna and Mallorca, respectively.
Sevilla thrashed Deportivo 3-0, with goals from Alvaro Negredo, Renato and Jesus Navas.

“We were really very sharp tonight,” said Navas, whose good form might earn him a place in the Spanish World Cup squad.

Deportivo coach Miguel Angel Lotina raised eyebrows by fielding a reserve-packed team, while Sevilla boss Manolo Jimenez went with his first-choice players.

Earlier Wednesday, Getafe had won 2-1 at Mallorca with goals from Manu del Moral and Miku, who had just joined from Valencia.

In-form Argentine Gonzalo Castro pulled a late goal back for Mallorca, who have won all their home matches in La Liga.

In the other quarter-final first legs Thursday, Racing Santander will be at home to Osasuna, while Atletico Madrid take on Celta Vigo, the only second-division team still in the competition.
