Seve Ballesteros, the golfer who had been suffering from an acute case of brain tumor, has reportedly expressed his interest to participate in the 2010 British Open Championship which is going to be held at St. Andrews sometime next year. The 52 year old golfer, who is recuperating in his native land, Spain, having undergone surgery four times on a brain tumor, had earlier announced his retirement from competitive golf tournaments in the year 2007, after having problems with his back.
Recent developments and reports suggest that Ballesteros has targeted one final return at St. Andrews. “I would love to play there again next year for the British public. It’s an objective that I would like to turn into reality,” said Ballesteros regarding his come back for the next year’s British Open Championship.
If Ballesteros plays at all in the next year’s championship, then St. Andrews will witness one of the most emotional moments in golf history. The next year might also witness the farewell of Tom Watson, who is now 59 years old, and is set to make history in the championship by being the oldest player to win the prestigious tournament.
The chances of Ballesteros returning at the lush green golf coarse was welcomed by the officials. According to the officials, Ballesteros’ presence will automatically boost the crowd, thus increasing the ticket sales by a large extent. “It would be absolutely fantastic if Seve could make it,” said David Hill, the Royal and Ancient’s director of championships.
Ballesteros was diagnosed for carrying a brain tumor last year. He also said that his life was on the verge of death. “When the doctors explained to me what they had done to my brain, it was like a miracle,” said Ballesteros.

I would dearly love to see Seve in next year’s Open. This year’s Open has a favorite player of mine (Tom Watson) in the lead for a historical win. I wish both of these wonderful golfers all the luck in the world. It is a miracle that Seve is not only alive but has set a goal to participate in next year’s Open.
YOU GO GUYS, YOU GO!!!
