Serena Williams unhappy with ‘no eating in locker room’ ruleJune 24th, 2009 - 5:13 pm ICT by ANI
London, June 24 (ANI): Tennis champ Serena Williams is not happy with ‘no eating in the locker room’ rule introduced in Wimbledon this year.
She poked fun at Wimbledon in her Twitter account by questioning the ‘pernickety’ attitude supposedly introduced this year.
“There is a NEW rule at the tournament that I disagree with so I want to hold an open conversation about rules that do NOT make sense,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.
“So, I am not pleased with this NO EATING in the Locker Room Rule. I was informed before my match that I can NOT eat in the locker room, now!
“What doesn’t make sense is that there was a lady placing bananas & health bars out for myself & the other players. How much sense does [that] make?” she added.
However, tournament officials say a sign has been up for nine years explaining that, for health and safety reasons, food cannot be brought into the locker room, but obviously snacks are made available to compensate. (ANI)
