Mumbai, Dec 4 (IANS) Virender Sehwag may have missed a golden opportunity to become the only batsman to score three triple centuries, but the swashbuckling opener is not regretting because he says there will be another chance.
Sehwag was out seven runs short of the landmark after resuming at overnight 284 in India’s first innings against Sri Lanka in the third Test.
“I am happy I scored at least 293 runs. It was a missed opportunity, but there will always be a next time,” said Sehwag.
“I was a bit tired. The team physio and masseur helped me and I felt really well in the morning. They are doing a fantastic job with the players,” he said.
Sehwag said his family was happy.
“They wanted me to cross 300 and 400, but they are still very happy. My son kissed me on the television.”
He said coach Gary Kirsten’s tips during the first Test at Ahmedabad have been a big help.
“He (Kirsten) advised me to survive the first half an hour to 40 minutes. He said ‘If you stay on the wicket, you will get big runs’, you know that. I followed it and it worked for me,” Sehwag said.
