Sebastian Vettel wins Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2009

Abu Dhabi, Nov 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sebastian Vettel won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2009 today. The 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be the seventeenth and last race of the Formula One season for 2009. It was held on the 3.45-mile Hermann Tilke-designed Yas Marina Circuit. It was also the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and also the first ever day-night Grand Prix. As it started at 5pm, and the time for the sunset was at 5.43pm on the race day.

FIA regulations state that the practice sessions must be in the same conditions as the actual race, so the practice sessions were run in the late afternoon and early evening so as to simulate the transition between day and night, as this was also the first ever day-night Grand Prix.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2009 was earlier known as the I Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Red Bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel also had strong practice sessions, hinting at a pace that would eventually show itself in qualifying. The good pace not only showed up in qualifying but also in winning the Grand Prix itself.
