The Seattle Storm defeated Atlanta Dream with a 87-84 score thereby maintaining their reputation of being undefeated in this postseason. They won each of their seven playoff and giving their fans and supporters a great reason to cheer by scoring victory over Atlanta Dream. Lauren Jackson was named MVP or Most Valued Player for her performance in the championship series. Jackson who had 26 points in each of the first two victories of her team in the best of five game series had 15 points and nine rebounds. Lauren Jackson had missed the playoffs of the last two years due to injury.

The Seattle Storm have become the first team to win the championship without experiencing a postseason defeat since Los Angeles Sparks went 6-0 in the series in 2002 when the finals were a best of three series. Their victory is not just a coincidence or an act of fate but rather the hard work of the past years where the team experienced everything ranging from disappointments to injuries all of which only motivated them to learn and improve. After five years they of struggle they emerged victorious.

Seattle Storm point guard Sue Bird described his feeling as to how not winning for five years and reading articles on them made him feel really bad.
