Scott Gomez Traded Off To Montreal

Glen Sather, the current General Manager of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League dropped a bombshell as he declared the transfer of the NHL maestro, Scott Gomez to Montreal. The seven player deal which brings ‘winger’ Chris Higgins to Broadway, sheds the Rangers of the seven million dollar contract with Gomez that would have lasted till 2014. The decision has provided a sort of momentum for the Rangers to jump into a free agent pool that consists of Marian Hossa, Marian Gavolic and Martin Havlat amongst others.
During a conference held earlier, Gomez expressed his disappointment over the decision. Expressing his views Gomez said, “A little sad, but I am excited…You’re going to the Mecca of hockey. It’s the business we are in. The organization had been tremendous to me. You bet how embarrassed I was for last year. I got a lot to prove. There’s only one thing that I didn’t get to play for the Torts a little longer.”
“The opportunities are there to make some changes,” said Sather, the brainchild of the Rangers. “You can’t stand pat for a hockey club. There was an opportunity and we took it,” he added.
Two years ago Sather offered Gomez the scheduled contract which seemed to be the Rangers first step to the Stanley Cup. The slump in Gomez’s form didn’t prove fruitful for the club as the Rangers were crushed in a one round play-off against Washington.
While asked about his views on Scott, Sather said, “Scott is a good boy and a very good player. I have no complaints about him.”
