Johannesburg, June 21 (DPA) Former Brazil coach Luis Felipe Scolari believes France are getting exactly what they deserve after they only reached the World Cup finals thanks to Thierry Henry’s handball goal.
Scolari led Brazil to glory in 2002 in Japan and Korea and almost took Portugal to their first ever final four years ago but lost the semi-final against France.
Scolari said Monday: “When they scored that Henry goal they were all applauding and they thought it was very nice. I don’t know exactly what happened there but the truth is that they deserve this now and they will end up going out.”
The internal crisis in the French squad came to a head Sunday when the players refused to train because the were unhappy about Nicolas Anelka being sent home for insulting coach Raymond Domenech.
