Scholes to leave Man U next summer
December 5th, 2009 - 2:49 pm ICT by ANILondon, Dec. 4 (ANI): British midfielder Paul Scholes is set to leave Manchester United next summer.
The Sun quoted ‘one-club-man’ Scholes, as saying: “I don’t feel I am making as much of a contribution as I’d like. I wouldn’t say I am playing some of my best football.”
Scholes, 35, insists he needs to play more games to hit top form after being used sparingly by United.
He has started less than half of their games this season.
“I always preferred when I was playing regularly and scoring a lot more. Now, it’s different. I play once every two or three weeks. I can only hope to do well when I get the chance. I don’t have a choice,” he said.
“You do think about the future. I am not too sure. I’ll just carry on and we’ll see what happens come the end of the season,” he added.
Scholes thinks fellow United veteran Ryan Giggs, 36, is the club’s best-ever player.
“Ryan has been a top player for 20 years. He’s been fantastic to play with. I think when Ryan retires he won’t just be regarded as one of the greats, He’ll be the one and only,” he said. (ANI)
