Jan 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Rutgers Scarlet Knights breathed a sigh of relief on Friday after St.Peter’s running back Savon Huggins ensured the team that he would go nowhere else but join the Rutgers for this season. His assurance, however, was certainly not a one to be missed out for he gave team Rutgers Scarlet Knights and its fans a sudden shock after he donned a North Carolina cap for about fifteen seconds.
Anything could have happened in those fifteen seconds but the running back with a smile on his face took off the North Carolina cap, instead replaced it with a Rutgers cap shortly before a press conference in Jersey City! He has rightly lived upto the expectations of the team as he decided to choose it over North Carolina and Notre Dam. Rutgers Scarlet Knights of late has not been able to render out any exceptional performance after former running back Ray Rice on the completion of his junior year left the team to play for NFL. As soon as the news broke down, speculations about Savon Huggins’ commitment towards the team have already started coming up. Questions are being raised if he will successfully manage to fill the vacuum made by Ray Rice’s absence. The team however has refused to judge Savon Huggins’ performance by keeping him at par with Ray Rice.
The running back who is in full form ran for 1,891 yards and 35 touchdowns for Saint Peter’s High School in the last season. As per the official rules, Savon Huggins cannot sign a letter of intent before Wednesday. Max Issaka, a former Pitt has also reportedly promised the Rutgers of joining the team for this season.
