Saurashtra, TN enter Buchi Babu cricket final

Chennai, Sep 15 (IANS) Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu entered the final of the All-India Buchi Babu Memorial cricket tournament with comfortable wins Monday over Gujarat and Karnataka, respectively, in the semi-finals here.Gujarat were never in the hunt as they chased Saurashtra’s total of 325 for six and were bundled out for 191 with skipper Rakesh Dhruve claiming five for 43 and Ravindra Jadeja 3 for 44.

Only India stumper Parthiv Patel (55) provided some resistance among the batsmen as Saurashtra won by 134 runs.

In the other game, Karnataka floundered while replying to Tamil Nadu’s 328 for nine and were dismissed for 183.

For Tamil Nadu, off-spinner M. Prabhu marked his debut with a haul of five for 53 even as Karnataka batsmen, barring K.B. Pawan (76), came up with disappointing performances.

Brief scores:

Saurashtra 325 for 6 in 90 overs beat Gujarat 191 all out in 67.3 overs (Parthiv Patel 55, Digant Popat 46, Rakesh Dhruve 5 for 43, Ravindra Jadeja 3 for 44).

Tamil Nadu 328 for 9 in 90 overs beat Karnataka 183 (K.B. Pawan 76, M. Prabhu 5 for 53, R. Ashwin 2 for 49).
