bowlNew York, Apr 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Wide receiver Santonio Holmes is the new player to join the New York Jets. The New York Jets acquired the player of the Pittsburgh Steelers by trading a fifth-round pick in the NFL draft that will follow later this month. The news was revealed to the media on Sunday afternoon by one of the sources close to clubs who had asked the media not to reveal his name reportedly. Though Santonio Holmes is considered a trouble prone player and is facing a lawsuit in the court, there is no denying of the fact that the player has performed well in the last season.

Santonio Holmes was a key player for the Pittsburgh Steelers team and had contributed immensely to the success of the team last year in the Super Bowl XLlll. He had caught the crucial winning catch just 35 seconds before the end of the game and had become the MVP of Super Bowl 2009. He went in the last season for 79 passes for 1,248 yards. He had also five touchdowns to his credit in the last season.

However, his record out of the field is not so good. The player had in the past faced many accusations and trial for being involved in some illegal activities. The 26 year-old Santonio Holmes was charged in past years with charges of assault and domestic violence. He is facing a lawsuit in Florida at present for being accused by a woman of throwing a glass at her at an Orlando nightclub. Although the lady maintains that she had suffered a deep cut just above her eye, the player had said that he had not caused any harm to the lady.
