Sania to comeback at the Aegon Classic
May 13th, 2010 - 8:41 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 13 (IANS) Sania Mirza will return to tennis with the $600,000 Aegon Classic tennis in Birmingham as a warm-up for the Wimbledon Championships next month.
Sania, who married Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik last month, had complained of pain in her troublesome wrist at the Dubai Open in February and was advised a six-week rest.
“For everyone asking, my next tournament is in Birmingham, followed by Wimbledon next month,” Sania tweeted Thursday.
The grasscourt tournament at Birmingham begins June 7. Sania reached the semifinals of the event last year.
Sania, ranked 92 in singles, began her practice sessions recently at her hometown in Hyderabad’s Lal Bahadur stadium along with Malik.
