Sangakkara to take a call on his future following Sri Lanka’s World Cup final loss

Kumar Sangakkara Colombo, Apr 3(ANI): Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara on Sunday said that he needs a little time to consider what his future will be following his team’s failure to win the World Cup.

“In the next week or so I will decide as to what my future is. I would like to take a few days off and really consider my options,” Sangakkara said.

India’s win was their second World Cup title after a wait of 28 years, while Sri Lanka have now suffered a second consecutive defeat in the World Cup final after losing to Australia in 2007.

“It is very disappointing that twice, in 2007 and now in 2011. We haven’t been able to convert getting into the finals and to being the champions,” Sangakkara said.

“It means that we are playing good cricket, we are competing with the best sides in the world both at home and away. So, everything is going really well for Sri Lanka, but we need to convert getting into those stages into making them count as being champions,” he added. (ANI)
