Aug 13 (IBNS) The extortion case, involving U of L head basketball coach Rick Pitino, earns prominence with Karen Sypher standing charged with trying to get millions from the coach. Time has come to learn about some shocking allegations amounting to varied versions of a single story.

Two months after she was indicted for extorting $10 million from Pitino and lying to the FBI, Sypher went to Louisville Metro Police claiming that she was raped by the championship coach.

Prosecutors and police have questioned Sypher’s credibility.

Months ago, Pitino admitted he had an encounter with Sypher. Until a he read a prepared statement during a press conference Wednesday night, this is all he said about it. “Times aren’t easy and I’m not going to talk about it. But if I can get through 9-11, I can get through anything in my life,” said Pitino on June 12.

However, the police interviews with Sypher and Pitino are no longer private.

Pitino told police he had been drinking at Porcini’s Restaurant on August 1, 2003 when Sypher came over to him and came on strong. He said the two had consensual sex in the restaurant after hours.

After their encounter, Pitino stated that Sypher drove him home from Porcini’s and she was “driving him crazy asking for basketball tickets.” Pitino said when she dropped him off, he gave her his card and said to call about getting the tickets.

In Sypher’s version, she told LMPD Sergeant Andy Abbott she recognized Pitino at Porcini’s and had been talking with him when she claims he, “undid his pants.” Sypher said she had a skirt on and told Pitino no and said to him, “What are you doing? What are you doing? I’ve never been through this before.”

According to Sypher, Pitino told her to shut up and be quiet, but she told him “No” and she wanted to get out. Sypher said she was pushing and screaming.
