Sahafat-Ahbab, Hindustan win in Delhi football league
January 3rd, 2009 - 9:14 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Jan 3 (IANS) Sahafat-Ahbab FC and G4S-Hindustan FC won their league matches in the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) League Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium here Saturday.Hindustan struggled hard to beat City FC 1-0 to collect three points in Group B while Sahafat-Ahbab FC registered its third straight victory beating former champions Indian Air Force (New Delhi) by a similar scoreline.
Hindustan took the 1-0 lead in the 27th minute with Sovan, who capitalised on a re-bound off City’s goalkeeper Mohsin Khan. City came close to equalising in the dying minutes of the game but Hindustan’s defender Manitombi cleared the ball from goal-line.
Both teams were reduced to 10 men in the 65th minute after referee Hari Chand gave marching orders after the players came to blows.
Earlier in the day, Tarsem Singh scored the winning goal for Sahafat-Ahbab in the 16th minute.
