Ryo Ishikawa Shines At U.S. Open

ryoJune 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ryo Ishikawa, the Japanese teenage professional golfer who started his career in 2007 made a strong start in his U.S. Open debut last week where he was one shot behind his three co-leaders after the opening round. He caught attention of the American golf fanatics at the 2010 U.S. open wearing a bright bubblegum pink outfit. This seven times winner on the Japanese tour had four birdies and three bogeys for a 1-under 70 at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

On Friday, June 18, Ryo Ishikawa scored an even-par 71 in round two, it gave him a share of second place with 1 under par at the halfway point with Phil Mickelson (660), Ernie Els(68) and Dustin Johnson(70) with a commendable two day score of 141. He was wearing cherry-red zip-zap sweater and off-white pants and with youthful acne in his cheery face he looked as the exact choice for the U.S. open. Rory McIlroy, who also played with Ryo Ishikawa was all in praises for this 18 years golf sensation and said that Ryo Ishikawa played extremely well. Ryo Ishikawa when asked said that he is learning something new each day with every round at Pebble Beach.

Tom Watson, the eight time major winner who played with Ryo Ishikawa on Friday was impressed by him and said that this Japanese golf sensation reminded him of his time when he was 18 years and praised the player saying that Ryo Ishikawa with his combination of “high, great putting and great touch” is surely going to win in his next matches. According to him, Ryo Ishikawa showed maturity more than his years in the game.
