ryanPhiladelphia, Apr 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ryan Howard has signed on with the Philadelphia Phillies for an extension on his contract. The extension means that he would be playing with the team for five more years. The decision does not come as a surprise, given that it was a natural choice for any player given the options of free agency and being in a team. As per the new contract, Ryan Howard would be playing with the Philadelphia Phillies till 2017. The deal, which is an expensive ones, would be earning Ryan Howard $125 million by the end of the last year that the contract expires.

Ryan Howard’s ridiculously expensive deal is one of the costliest in the field, coming second to just that of Alex Rodriguez. It cannot be denied, on the other hand, that the deal is going to serve as an example when other deals are struck, possibly raising the bar by quite a few millions. The deal also includes a club option for the Philadelphia Phillies, which would come into effect in 2017. Ryan Howard admitted that making the decision was not particularly difficult for him, as he wanted to continue what he has been doing for the last few years.

Needless to say, Ryan Howard himself was elated about the deal. He seemed pretty confident of himself, and as he spoke, it was obvious that he had had it all planned out in his mind. He would be doing the same things down the line, he commented, and joked that he hoped that news of the deal has not resulted in riots among the Phillies. The Phillies commented that it was the dedication and the prowess of the player that decided them on carrying on with him.
