ericOct 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand had a sudden injury below his neck, that resulted in the paralysis of that part of his body. This happened after he made a tackle on Saturday against Army. The seemingly serious injury now puts the player off the field at least for the next few months to come.

Rutgers coach Greg Schiano said on Sunday that Eric LeGrand has been admitted to the Hackensack University Medical Center. He is now in the intensive care unit, after a prolonged overnight surgery for the stabilization of his spine. Footballer Adam Taliaferro who has also been through the same ten years ago, feels that the junior defensive tackle, Eric LeGrand will have some tough time to face, where there is every possibility of losing his morale and confidence. However, Adam Taliaferro says that right now it is extremely important to stay positive and calm, and whatever is happening is temporary.

Eric LeGrand, was paralyzed from his neck, after suffering an injury to his C-3 and C-4 vertebrae. This happened when the player was playing against the Army on on Saturday at New Meadowlands Stadium. Although the Rutgers won over Army with a score of 23-20, the unfortunate incident occurred when Eric LeGrand was making a tackle on a kickoff against the Army, in the last quarter of the match. The injury happened when only five minutes were left for the quarter half to get over, and Eric LeGrand had a fierce collision with Army’s Malcolm Brown. He was left immobile and numb for several minutes before he was carted off.

Coach Greg Schiano and his team mates, were there in the hospital all through out Sunday night, praying for the quick recovery of the player. His parents were also present in the hospital.
