Russian City Of Sochi All Set To Host Winter Olympics 2014

sochiVancouver, British Columbia, Mar 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With the Winter Olympics 2010 reaching its conclusion on Sunday night, anticipation is already running high about the next Olympics event which is scheduled to take place in 2014. It is now the resort city of Sochi in Russia which is grabbing the attention of millions across the world as the next Olympics event is all set to be held in the city four years from now.

During the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics which took place on Sunday night at the BC Place Stadium in downtown Vancouver, the prestigious Olympic flag was handed over to Sochi Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov from the mayor of Vancouver Gregor Robertson. In order to mark the beginning of the 2014 Sochi Olympics, the closing ceremony showcased the Russian anthem as well as ballet which turned the focus of the world towards the Russian resort city as the venue for the next Winter Games. While reacting to the gala event that Sochi is gearing up to host in 2014, Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov emphasized that this was indeed a historic moment for the city. At the same time, the mayor also noted that hosting such a prestigious event was a huge responsibility for the city as well as Russia and implied proper steps would be taken to ensure that the high expectations associated with the event is fulfilled.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Chernyskenko, the chief of the organizing committee of Sochi Games has added that his experience at the Vancouver Olympics would be helpful to organize the forthcoming event. As the Russian authorities gear up to put their best show ever in the 2014 Winter Games, fans would be eagerly waiting for the gala event.
