Dec 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rushden was scheduled for a first round replay against the Eastwood Town team on Tuesday night, but the game was sadly postponed after the news of the death of Rushden’s twenty four year old goalkeeper, Dale Roberts. Although the cause of death has yet to be revealed by the coroner, the police are saying that it does not appear to be suspicious.

Fans can pay tribute to the player’s memory at Nene Park, which has been left open for this reason. Roberts was said to have been discovered in his home in Higham Ferrers, Northamtonshire by police on Tuesday.

Dale Roberts became a member of the team from Nottingham Forrest back in January of 2009. The chairman, Gary Calder issued a statement, “It is with great sadness that this afternoon our England C goalkeeper Dale Roberts passed away. Our thoughts and prayers at this time go to his parents, family and friends.”
