(THAINDIAN NEWS) Stanford University running back Toby Gerhart displayed an impressive performance in the college football game when his team Stanford Cardinal registered their victory against rival Notre Dame on Saturday, at the Stanford Stadium. The young player managed to deliver a last minute touchdown, which enabled his team to win the match by a score of 45-38.

The young running back, who ran for an amazing 205 yards, delivered his third touchdown which enabled his team to take the lead in the highly anticipated match. The player also managed to throw a touchdown during the critical fourth down play of the game that ultimately resulted in his team’s victory. With the running back’s winning scores in the final moments of the game, the strong 50,510 crowd present in the stadium could not have expected anything better. The entire match turned out to be an immensely thrilling experience for the fans as the winning team displayed their control of the game.

The player is among the top contenders for the Heisman Trophy, which is given out every year to give recognition to the most outstanding player of college football. It is being presumed that the young player’s spectacular performance during Saturday’s match would go a long way in ensuring that he receives the much coveted trophy. At the same time, Toby has emerged as one of the leading rushers as he has ran for an amazing 1,736 yards and also boasts of delivering around 26 touchdowns during the regular season. Moreover, the player is also being considered as one of the high ranking players for the 2010 NFL Draft.
