Rudd’s wife to climb Mt. KilimanjaroJune 9th, 2009 - 1:26 pm ICT by ANI
Brisbane (Australia), June 9 (ANI): Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s wife, Therese Rein, is preparing for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro later this year.
Revealing this, Rudd said his wife was “one tough lady” and that she had been in training all year to take part on the expedition with their son Nicholas.
Rein has been training at a Brisbane gym for the journey.
Asked if he thought it was an invasion of his wife’s privacy, Rudd said: “If magazines choose to photograph people training at the gym through their cameras without their consent well, I presume, it’s a matter for those magazines.’
“I think people will form their own judgment about that,’ Rudd told Radio 4BC in Brisbane on Tuesday.
Asked if the magazine should be boycotted, he repeated his view that people would form their own opinions.
Rudd said he was “fair game’ because he was the one in the family who’d chosen to go into public life.
“That’s as it should be and I think others would have different views in terms of other members of your family,’ he said.
“She’s one tough lady and I wouldn’t like to be competing against her as she climbs up Mt Kilimanjaro.’
Rudd said he would not be joining his wife on the climb. (ANI)
